Noleggiare car rental at Olbia seemed like a fine experience until settling up at the end. The lady checking my car in was snowed by waiting customers. I had to wait as well. When she got round to my car, she noticed a 'new' scratch on the back bumper. I didn't cause this damage. I'm normally very careful, and take my own pictures before driving off with a hire car. I wasn't as thorough this time because I picked it up at night with poor lighting and the car park was full with small spaces and not much room to look around the car... I also had two little kids to put to bed ASAP! I really wish I had done my normal photos. I was charged €200 for the 'damage' and another €80 as an administration fee for the 'report'... an automated pdf that arrived by email a few hours later. To make things worse, I was part of a party which hired another car from Noleggiare. They received exactly the same treatment on returning their car. Without having had a scrape or accident, some new damage was found on their rear bumper and they were charged the same fee. I wouldn't trust this company again, nor would I recommend. If you've already booked, be thorough with your pictures before you drive off!

All north Sardegna is very peaceful. Recommend trips to Porto Rotondo or Porto San Paolo close to Olbia. In Porto San Paolo, the Tavolara is stunning to visit with a boat, and the island’s restaurant for lunch is a must. Cala Gonone is another nice town on the east coast, quaint and peaceful. Alghero, on the west coast, as the most beautiful sunset. It’s also a quaint town for shopping after dinner. Overall Sardegna is a very relaxing place to visit in the hot summer months, and likely outside of that time as well.

When looking for Sixt Olbia airport, don't follow "Car rental" arrow. Just exit the arrival hall and go straight. It's right in front of the exit. Best advice I can give - add super cover to your rental, as it will give you a piece of mind when driving the car in Italy. Also, pre-purchase the petrol/diesel at the pick-up of the car, it's roughly 15% cheaper. If you return the car with not full tank, they use market price for petrol/diesel. Never blindly follow GPS navigator,. Always be aware of your surroundings. It can lead to ridiculous situations in best-case scenario and to the accident in worst-case.

Rent a car. Give yourself s lot of time in advance of any airline travel. Keep all travel documents with you in one place. Keep your mobile phone fully charged and keep a recharger wire with you. Dress comfortably. Keep adequate amounts of currency in both your home and destination currency.

Great airport, neat and tidy. Best waiting area is before you go through safety check. Safety check went smoothly. Also a nice cafe just outside airport. Everything really expensive though. Did not get any Italian liqueurs as planned as the price in "Tax Free" was way higher than in London! Definitively catering for the wealthy only.
